General contractor Robert H. Darley calls his business Across the Pond Construction and his company logo features both American and British flags for good reason. Darley was born in Los Angeles of British parents and holds both American and British citizenship. He is multitalented, doing all types of construction, from remodeling to full historical renovations. ATP, also does commercial work including restaurants and galleries.

Darley’s talents extend to tool and die making, precision engineering, specialty tables, mosaic flooring, ornate pillars, and other craftsmanship. In England, he turned 17th century barns into houses, and built and renovated various English country cottages.

Darley, who lives in Carmel, started Across the Pond Construction ten years ago. He lived in the south of England, in Sussex, about 40 miles from London, for about 16 years, after spending the first 14 years of his life in Southern California. His daughter, Jamie Lee, 23, who now lives in Los Angeles.

Across the Pond is heading into a long desired path of Robert's to build real traditional English cottages here on the Peninsula. Robert completed one of the traditional masterpieces in 2008 and the house can be seen on Second Avenue and Santa Fe in Carmel.
